<p>Rising hinges need an offset to create the lift required, this is usually caused by fastening the bottom hinge to the side of the post instead of the front of the post, it doesn&#8217;t matter if you fasten the top hinge in the centre of the post but the rising hinge has to be on the side, it is this that causes the length of travel needed to push the gate upwards.</p>
<p>The amount of different hinges that you can get is incredible, butt hinges, t hinges, closet hinges, rising hinges, cantilever hinges.</p>
